Making calls through the mobile network can be quite expensive experience. Especially if you are making calls to a foreign country. The same can be said if you are in that foreign country and you have to call back home. We all know how expensive can those roaming rates for international calls can get. Fortunately, now there is a way to make international calls through a mobile phone which can be very cheap or better yet – free.
This is possible thanks to a technology known as Mobile Voice over Internet Protocol which is abbreviated mVoIP for convenience. The principles of this technology are similar to those of VoIP with the key difference that you can use your mobile phone to call Uganda or any other foreign country. Still the communication is carried out through Internet.
In the past the internet which the networks of the most mobile providers offered was very bad and it couldn't be used for making calls over internet, but these days are long gone. Now the internet which the mobile network providers offer is very good. On other hand most mobile networks offer unlimited data plans to their usual service, so it would be a pity if we don't take advantage of it.
There are many apps available for smartphones which make mVoIP a possibility. The most popular are Skype, Truphone, but there are many others too. There is one more thing that is worth mentioning, if you don't have unlimited data plan, you can still make free or cheap calls without that showing up on your monthly statement. But instead of the 3G network of the mobile provider, you will have to use the ability of the smartphones to connect to internet via Wi-Fi and you can once again make cheap calls to Uganda with a mobile phone and mVoIP technology.
