Ways to call Canada from the UK

Canada is a part of the Commonwealth of nations - the remnant of the British Empire. Moreover, Canada is one of the British dominions, which means that the queen is the head of state. So people would ask why there are still international calls between the UK and Canada. Well, the question is in fact irrelevant, since the new technologies erase the fund-consuming aspects of the international calling.

The technologies today allow the conducting of cheap calls. There are many ways to call Canada without worrying about the future bills. One possible solution is Skype. Skype belongs to the Voice over Internet Protocol family of software technologies and its impact on the world's communications is considered a giant leap forward.

As I write about Voice over Internet Protocol, it turns out that the common image of the VoIP is quite different. The VoIP technology is similar to Skype and the term applies to both of them. However, the true VoIP is actually a set, called softphone. After connecting the softphone to your computer, you just need to install the accompanying software to run the device. That way, you can call over Internet and call Canada for free. The moment when you need to call a landline or mobile phone is when you can use a call credit, just like Skype.

Call credits are basically the same as the pre-paid calling cards. You can make international calls at very low rates, depending on the call plan. You need to read carefully the different terms in order to suit yourself best.
